Producer

Nicole Gerhards studied Theatre and French in Paris as well as Film Production at the dffb (Deutsche Film and Fernsehakademie) in Berlin. Besides working for various production companies as production manager and freelance producer, she graduated from the dffb with the film CHARLOTTE, which screened in 2004 at both the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes and at the Perspektive Deutsches Kino at the Berlin Film Festival. 

In 2005, Nicole Gerhards founded NiKo Film with which she has (co-)produced 21 successful and award-winning films, 19 of which were international co-productions, such as THE STRANGER IN ME (Semaine de la Critique 2008), THE PRIZE (including 2 Silver Bears, Berlinale 2011) and BABAI, which was awarded for Best Director at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2015. 

She co-produced Matías Bize's feature film THE MEMORY OF WATER (Venice Days 2015), MOTHER AND THE OTHER LOONIES IN THE FAMILY by Ibolya Fekete and Stina Werenfels DORA OR THE SEXUAL NEUROSIS OF OUR PARENTS (Berlinale 2015 - Panorama). NiKo Film also produced a commercial for Trivago and the minor co-productions CLASH by Mohamed Diab (opening film Un Certain Regard 2016). In 2017 NiKo Film celebrated the world premieres of two co-productions at the Cannes Film Festival: EN ATTENDANT LES HIRONDELLES by Karim Moussaoui (Un Certain Regard) and CARRÉ 35 by Eric Caravaca (Séance Spéciale à l'officiel).

In 2019, ELECTRIC GIRL by Ziska Riemann celebrated its international premiere at the Busan International Film Festival and SUNBURNED by Carolina Hellsgård premiered at Alice Nella Cittá in Rome. The international co-production YALDA - A NIGHT FOR FORGIVENESS had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020 and won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize there before celebrating its German premiere in the Generation 14plus section at the Berlinale.

Nicole Gerhards is a member of EAVE, ACE, the European and the German Film Academy. In 2012 she expanded her skills in story development within the Torino Film Lab, which she supported as a script editor. She also represented Germany as Producer on the Move at the Festival de Cannes and participated in the Producers Lab Toronto and the renowned Inside Pictures Programme.
